Waqrapukara is a remote Inca ceremonial site, perched high on a rocky ridge overlooking deep Andean valleys. Its location and atmosphere make it one of the most impressive yet lesser-known archaeological sites in southern Peru, where Inca history meets a rugged mountain landscape.
2 or 3-day trip
Waqrapukara is often offered as a long and intensive one-day tour from Cusco, involving many hours of driving and a very short visit on site. While possible, this approach leaves little room to truly experience the surroundings.
At Casa LENA, we therefore include Waqrapukara as part of two- or three-day journeys, often combined with the Rainbow Mountains and/or the Seven Lakes of Ausangate. This allows us to experience the region at a calmer pace and to connect several remarkable sites in a logical and balanced way.
During our journeys, we stay in small local lodges, creating space for rest, acclimatization and time in the mountains.
Because every group is different, we do not work with fixed standard itineraries. The route, starting point and pace depend on factors such as acclimatization, travel plans and personal interests.
Tours can start in Cusco or Curahuasi and can easily be combined with other experiences along the way, such as Humantay Lake or continuing towards the Manu region, without the need to return to Cusco in between.
For each group, we design a tailor-made program, carefully adapted to their situation, timing and wishes — always with attention to comfort, timing and the natural rhythm of the mountains.
