7 lakes of Ausangate

The Seven Lakes of Ausangate form a series of high-altitude lakes nestled in the Ausangate mountain range, known for their intense colors and wide, open landscapes. Fed by glacial meltwater, each lake has its own character, reflecting the surrounding peaks and changing light throughout the day.

2 or 3-day trip

The Seven Lakes are often offered as a demanding one-day tour from Cusco, involving very early departures, long hours of driving and limited time at the lakes themselves. While impressive, this approach leaves little room to truly enjoy the surroundings or move at a relaxed pace.

At Casa LENA, we therefore include the Seven Lakes of Ausangate as part of two- or three-day journeys, often combined with the Rainbow Mountains and/or Waqrapukara. This allows us to explore the region more gradually and to connect several highlights in a balanced and meaningful way.

During our journeys, we stay in small local lodges, creating space for rest, acclimatization and time in the mountains.

Because every group is different, we do not work with fixed standard itineraries. The route, starting point and pace depend on factors such as acclimatization, travel plans and personal interests.
Tours can start in Cusco or Curahuasi and can easily be combined with other experiences along the way, such as Humantay Lake or continuing towards the Manu region, without the need to return to Cusco in between.

For each group, we design a tailor-made program, carefully adapted to their situation, timing and wishes — always with attention to comfort, timing and the natural rhythm of the mountains.
