This hike offers magnificent views of the mountainscape and changing vegetation as you descend from 2 700 to 1 500 meters above sea level! The walk takes about 5 hours and takes you down the Apurimac Canyon to “the eyebrow of the Peruvian jungle”.
We leave at 6 in the morning and walk down the mountain to the thermal baths of Cconoc. Somewhere on the way down we stop at a panoramic viewpoint to enjoy a healthy breakfast with fruit and homemade bread. With some luck you can enjoy the early morning flight of the Condors. We arrive in Cconoc around midday to enjoy a traditional lunch in the local restaurant. Afterwards we regain strength by relaxing in the thermal baths and set our way back to Curahuasi at around 5 p.m.
In this version of the hike, we leave in the afternoon and arrive in the evening to our campsite by the riverside of the Apurimac River. We set up camp and prepare a nice barbecue to fill our hungry stomachs after the walk. Afterwards we enjoy a warm camp fire under the stars. In the morning, after a healthy, homemade breakfast, we can enjoy the thermal baths of Cconoc for swimming and relaxing. Around noon we enjoy a traditional lunch in the local restaurant before driving back to Curahuasi. It is possible to combine this walk with the walk to the tunnels of Maucachaca. (See further)
